I did a good deed today. Not to boast on a blog, but several things I'd learnt.
It feels.. new.
I had not done this before - well, at least not individually to this kind of people.
I was walking toward my home, at 1439, along a pavement just outside MiNDS;
I saw this uncle, indian?, on a wheelchair, struggling to push himself forward.
Compassion stirred within me, nudging me to go forward and help him.
As I walked nearer, I noticed that his fingers were.. partially gone.. and both of his legs were amputated.
Gentlely, I got behind his wheelchair and whispered, asking if he needed help.
He turned, and with perspiration above his lips, gave a smile and said yes.
Oh, shockingly, while I was pushing him, he spoke to me in cantonese!!
Yahoo! I like, lol.
Conversing while we waited for a cab, I found out that he stays nearby, and is going to Middle Road for God knows what.
He now knows that I go to church. (:
Then helped him board the taxi, that's all.

Nothing spectacular.
Just a passerby, helping someone in need.
No religious agenda, no hidden motives - I had to keep reminding myself.
Firstly, we have to learn to meet the needs of others, before we can even engage them on the topic of religion etc. The things taught during The Ubin Hike, which Samson (The Bible School Teacher) had said.
While continuing my way back home, I felt that this was something that I had not done in a long time, individually.
And God impressed in my heart the verse that goes something like this.. "If you have served the least of them, you have served Me."
And also, it dwelled on me that I should start doing such things in my life, lest God make me like one of them, so that I know how it feels?
haha. ok, that's scary. =x
